Trade Credit
Books
Besides book sales, auctions, etc., we get our
inventory from people like you, who bring their books in to us to trade.
The best deal is to take trade credit for your
books. We judge each book on its own merits, with current
demand and condition being our primary concerns. Books of lesser demand or with more than moderate wear will garner less trade than
a high-demand book or one in pristine condition. We
pride ourselves on having one of the most liberal trade policies in the
Triangle.
 Trade credit has no expiration date and
can be used for up to 50% of any sale.
We will pay cash for some books if
they're new, high-demand titles. Cash payments (when we do them)
are half of what you'd get in trade.
Trade credit is offered to local in-store
customers only. *Please* don't ship us a load of books from Oregon! :)

Than Books
We also take audio
books (cassette or CD), music CD's, DVD's, some VHS, and PC games. PC games
must be within the last two years and include all the manuals, codes, etc.
Have software other than games that you want to trade? Call us or bring it
in and we'll take a look at it and let you know then.
The Choice is Yours!
We’re always looking for new stock in non-fiction (especially
history, art, poetry,
science, and crafts & hobbies) and in mysteries, dark fiction (horror),
and science fiction.. If
you’ve got books that you haven’t read lately, bring them down and trade them
for some new titles.
We do not take the following in trade:
Book Club Books (Exception:
Newly-released books in high demand)
Ex-library books
Books in poor condition
Books with badly creased, worn or broken spines
Books with highlighting
Serial romances over 18 months old (Harlequin,
Zebra, etc.)
Encyclopedias
Reader's Digest Condensed Books
Most textbooks
Software over 24 months old
Books that smell strongly of tobacco smoke or mildew
Obviously, there will be exceptions to the
above, but it's best to call ahead before you lug them over.

You Just Want to "Get Rid Of"?
Donations are gladly
accepted. Books that we cannot use here in the store are generally given to
charity organizations (such as Guardian Angel Thrift, a non-profit
corporation raising money for Alzheimer's Research) or homeless shelters.
Since we are not a non-profit corporation, we cannot offer a tax receipt for
your books. If you need a receipt, please feel free to take your books
directly to the charity of your choice.
